Availability of skilled labour in all horticulture sectors is an ongoing problem. The organic sector, being relatively new, is particularly short of staffs at any level that have an appreciable knowledge to produce crops organically.
Conventional horticulture training alone is inadequate to service the knowledge base of the organic sector so a course is a must to provide skills training, at all levels, targeted to organic production. This programme combines the studies of plant knowledge, use and maintenance which includes plant identification, plant selection, botany, plant health, soil science and plant propagation. Graduates have a working knowledge of all facets of amenity horticulture including plant selection, installation and garden/landscape maintenance.
Candidates who opt for this course have a wide range of careers to choose from like a Horticulturist, or garden centre, landscaping, parks and reserves, conservation employee, or even a garden designer/maintenance/development |
